What's on the Agenda: April 16

Airdrie council will meet at 1 p.m. on April 16 for its regular council meeting.
City council met April 3 and declared April 15 to 21 Nation Volunteer Week in Airdrie.

A public hearing will kick off the April 16 council meeting regarding an amendment of the Land Use Bylaw that will create the Downtown Plan and Community Revitalization Levy Boundary area and associated Land Use Bylaw standards.

The following closed meeting includes a 2023 audit report, an administration fee update, and land update.
Items are protected under section 16 and 24 of Freedom of Information and Protection (FOIP) of the privacy act, which means the disclosure would be harmful to business interests and the information is protected on advice from officials.

The consent agenda includes one item to proclaim June 3 to 9 as Seniors' Week in Airdrie to honour and recognize all that seniors have contributed to making Airdrie families, communities, and the Province of Alberta stronger.

Council will then address two bylaw changes. The New User Fees and Charges Bylaw is set to receive three readings and will be effective Sept. 1, 2024 and Jan. 1, 2025.

The Waterworks Bylaw Amendment is also set to receive three readings.

Three reports will then be presented to council, including the 2023 annual financial report, a development permit application for a Townhouse development in the Midtown neighbourhood, and the Standing Committee Citizen Member Appointments Framework.

Business arising from council comittees include chair updates from the Community Safety and Social Services committee, the Community and Corporate Services committee, and the Community Infrastructure and Strategic Growth committee.

Finally, there is also a notice of motion for supportive housing from all of council. At the April 2 meeting, Council gave notice that a motion will be made on April 16 to direct Administration to review the regulations for Supportive Housing developments and undertake a campaign to inform and engage the public on this development issue.

Airdrie council will meet at 1 p.m. for its regular council meeting.
