Beiseker council approved six funding applications totalling $9,650 for village programs, March 25.
Councillor Fred Walters submitted three funding requests to council on behalf of the Beiseker and Districts Recreation Board. The board reviewed the applications at their March 14 meeting and recommended council approve the requests.
Beiseker Minor Hockey-Atom Team will receive $500 from recreation funds to assist the team in attending a provincial tournament.
Stage East Theatre will be granted $2,400 for storage of props.
“It will help them get it out of the community centre,” Walters said.
The Beiseker Municipal Library Board was given $2,100, which will be used for movie licensing.
“We are finding if we can get pre-release movies with these licensing we get a better turn out (to movie night),” CAO Jo Lambert said.
The recreation board receives its funding from Rocky View County.
The Beiseker and District Family Community Support Services (FCSS) board also approved three funding applications at their March 15 meeting and requested Walters present them to council for final approval.
The newly formed Citizens on Patrol will receive $50 to go towards advertising and training.
The Boys and Girls Club of Airdrie will get $1,000 to support of the Keystone Club and Torch, a program that promotes pre-teen involvement in their community. Kids Klub, an enrichment and recreation based after-school program, will be receiving $700 in support of their summer program in the village.
Eighty per cent of FCSS funding comes from the government of Alberta and 20 per cent from the municipality.
