Cochrane RCMP stopped two impaired motorists in separate incidents on Highway 1 and Highway 1A on Aug. 17.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., Cochrane RCMP received multiple complaints about a truck travelling west in the eastbound lanes of Highway 1. The vehicle was first observed near Highway 22 and continued west until it was stopped by RCMP near Morley Road, still driving in the wrong lane.

The driver of the truck, a 45-year-old man from Calgary, is facing multiple charges including impaired operation of a motor vehicle, impaired operation over the legal limit, operating a motor vehicle with no insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and driving while suspended.

Approximately one hour later, Cochrane RCMP received another complaint of a vehicle travelling in the wrong lane, this time, east in the westbound lanes of Highway 1A.

The vehicle was located and the 23-year-old man from Calgary was arrested. He is facing charges of impaired operation and operating a motor vehicle over the legal limit.

The names of both drivers have not been released and both are scheduled to make their first appearances in Cochrane Provincial Court in September.
