A man walked into the Fulton’s Home Hardware Building Centre located on Market Boulevard on Jan. 26 and made off with a pair of power tools after stuffing them inside his jacket, according to RCMP Media Liaison Constable Jason Curtis.

“The (video) surveillance isn’t great quality but you can clearly see him going in, looking around, unpackaging the items and then putting them underneath his jacket,” Curtis said.

The suspect then left the store, according to Curtis. The incident took place at 10:41 a.m., the time noted on the video surveillance footage. Store staff noticed the empty packages a short time later and called RCMP. The stolen items were an air-nailer and a power stapler, used in the construction trade.

RCMP describe the man as Caucasian, short with a small build, approximately 45 years old, wearing a dark jacket and brown baseball cap.

Gleichen Man Arrested

Kyle James Armstrong, 23, of Gleichen faces multiple charges after being arrested on Feb. 10 by Airdrie RCMP in possession of a stolen truck, drugs, stolen credit cards and a number of weapons, according to Curtis.

Curtis said RCMP received a call at 3:40 p.m. about a stolen Ford F-350 truck in the London Drugs parking lot.

“A witness who is familiar with some Calgary police information about stolen vehicles noticed the vehicle and gave us a call and told us exactly where it was,” he said. “When members came out, the individual was getting into the vehicle and they initiated a high-risk traffic stop. The vehicle was stolen and the individual inside was in possession of an expandable baton, a couple of hunting knives, stolen credit cards, and a number of different drugs.”

Armstrong has been charged with two counts of Possession of Stolen Property under $5,000, one count of Stolen Property over $5,000, one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Canabis), one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance (MDMA), one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Oxycodone), and one count of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon. He appeared in Airdrie Provincial Court on Feb. 11, however, Curtis did not know the outcome of that appearance.

Stolen Truck

RCMP is asking for the public’s help to identify a man who was involved in a “gas and dash” at the East Lake Petro Canada gas station on Feb. 11 at 1:56 p.m.

“He pulled up, fueled up and drove off and when the clerk contacted RCMP and we reviewed the video surveillance, we saw the plate on the vehicle and (checked our database) to find (the truck) had been reported stolen out of Red Deer,” Curtis said.

According to Curtis, the truck was stolen in Red Deer on Feb. 7.

RCMP describe the suspect as Caucasian, approximately 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was wearing a black Aeropostal brand sweater, a black hat and jeans. The truck is a white 1999 Ford SRW with rust around the rear wheel-wells.

If you have any information on any crime, call the Airdrie RCMP detachment at (403) 945-7200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)
