TELUS is investing $3.5 million in expanding its wireless network in Airdrie this year.

The company will invest $650-million across Alberta in 2011. This year’s network investment builds upon the $23 billion TELUS has invested in its operations and technology in the province in the last 10 years.

“This year, right here in Airdrie, TELUS will invest $3.5 million to further expand our world-class wireless network and bring faster Internet speeds and Optik TV to even more local businesses and households,” said Pam Karnik, vice-president, customer solutions delivery Alberta.

“Not only are we proud to serve our customers every day of the year, our eight TELUS team members in Airdrie are proud to give where we live and do our part to help build a better community for us all. In fact, recently, $100 for every new Optik TV customer in Airdrie went to Genesis Place. The campaign raised $121,600 for the centre.”

Since 2000, TELUS and its team members have committed nearly $183,000 and 7,097 volunteer hours to charitable and community organizations in Airdrie, including: more than $61,000 to a number of local and regional charities and community projects such as Airdrie Meals on Wheels, Airdrie and District Humane Society, Airdrie Festival of Lights and the Airdrie Food Bank.
