Airdrie Rural RCMP officers are looking for a group of people who have been allegedly making fraudulent credit card transactions at various stores in CrossIron Mills mall located near Balzac.

Airdrie RCMP Constable Jennifer Weedmark said officers responded to a complaint of one man making a fraudulent transaction at Saks Fifth Avenue in the mall at approximately 7:30 p.m. Sept. 14.

She said she isn’t sure how many people are involved or how many stores they have made fraudulent transactions at. No arrests have been made.

“They’re known to the mall,” Weedmark said.

Jeep stolen

A red 2016 Jeep Patriot was stolen from a car dealership in Cochrane in the Riversong area Nov. 1.

According to Cochrane RCMP Constable Jennifer Brewer, video surveillance showed two individuals in a green, two-door Dodge Dakota entering the lot at approximately 5 p.m. She said one of them was seen stealing the vehicle.

“It was a brand new vehicle. They (dealership staff) were going to deliver it, they just ran inside to get something and the keys were in close proximity of the vehicle,” Brewer said. “When they returned it was gone.”

The Dodge Dakota had a stolen licence plate on it, which Brewer said was stolen from Calgary. Video surveillance showed a heavy-set man wearing a brown, hooded Carhartt jacket and jeans getting in the Jeep and driving off.

Brewer declined to say at which dealership the incident took place. She advised residents not to approach either vehicle if they see them but to call RCMP.

Serious collision

Alcohol and speed are believed to be contributing factors in a single vehicle rollover on Horse Creek Road approximately three kilometres north of Highway 1A near Cochrane Oct. 30.

Cochrane RCMP officers say the vehicle was travelling north on Horse Creek Road when it entered the ditch on the east side of the road and struck a guardrail and embankment, which caused the vehicle to become airborne.

Two of the four occupants were ejected from the Mitsubishi Lancer. The 24-year-old female driver from Cremona and three passengers were taken to the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary.

Brewer said the three passengers included a 21-year-old man from Water Valley and 21-year-old woman from Calgary. A 20-year-old man was also in the vehicle but Brewer said his address is unknown.

One of the occupants is in critical condition and the other three received minor injuries. Brewer said the rollover occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. and it is unknown whether or not the occupants were wearing seatbelts.

An RCMP collision expert is assisting with the investigation.

Armed robbery

Beiseker RCMP officers have arrested and charged two people in connection to an armed robbery that took place at the Acme Convenience Store and Truck Stop Oct. 23.

Beiseker RCMP Sergeant Glen Demmon said in a press release a man wearing a mask entered the business at approximately 7 p.m. and brandished a knife before taking off with cash and cigarettes.

Two suspects were arrested Oct. 25, including 34-year-old Adam Benjamin Pye of Beiseker, who has been charged with robbery with a weapon and disguise with intent. The name of the second individual is not being released at this time.

According to the release, RCMP officers received tips from members of the public, which helped investigators identify the suspects.
