Beiseker RCMP arrested and charged two individuals in two separate cases involving stolen vehicles, according to a statement released by Sergeant Glen Demmon.

Terry Lee Oshiro, 37, of the Red Deer area was arrested Oct. 30 and charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and a number of driving offenses in relation to a vehicle stolen from Lacombe.

Demmon said in the statement that officers spotted Oshiro driving the stolen vehicle southbound on Highway 9 sometime in the afternoon, and upon running the vehicle’s license plate determined it was stolen.

Oshiro, upon seeing officers from the Strathmore RCMP detachment patrolling on Highway 9 near Delacour, where they were trying to locate a different stolen car, decided to drive into a field where the vehicle became stuck.

The RCMP Police Dog Services was called to assist and was able to locate Oshiro.

Several other items, which RCMP believes to be stolen, were recovered from the vehicle. The nature of these stolen items is not being released by RCMP.

The date on which Oshiro will appear in court to answer the charges was not part of Demmon’s statement.

On Oct. 31, Beiseker RCMP officers located a vehicle in Irricana that had been reported stolen in Calgary, according to Demmon’s statement.

A man who is not being identified by RCMP and was in the vehicle at the time, was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000.

According to Demmon, the vehicle was seen being driven erratically earlier in the evening by residents in the rural area around Beiseker and reported to RCMP.

The date this man will appear in court was also not part of Demmon’s statement.

Calls to the Beiseker RCMP for more information were not returned by press time.
