Two vehicles were stolen from a pair Cochrane residences at Bencroft Place in the east end of town between the hours of 11 p.m. Dec. 1 and 6 a.m. on Dec. 2.

The vehicles were taken when thieves entered the unlocked residences and removed the keys to the vehicles before taking off with them.

Investigation by Cochrane RCMP determined that the vehicle owners had arrived home and placed their keys in a visible area within the residence.

Police are advising Cochrane residents to be vigilant of suspicious people and activity and to remember to lock windows and doors.

“This becomes a safety concern when people are entering the homes when people are inside,” said Cochrane RCMP Cpl. Mel Calahasen.

“People need to remember to double check that their windows and doors are locked, not only to protect their possessions, but themselves and their families.”

The vehicles stolen are a 2008 Toyota Tundra, silver in colour, Alberta license plate number 94J 771, and a grey 2012 Dodge quad cab bearing an Alberta license plate BHB 4252.

Cochrane RCMP are still looking for the vehicles and no description of the culprits had been released at press time.

Anyone with information on an unsolved crime can contact their local RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
