Aaron Sluchinski's Alberta team went into the final day of Brier pool play with the hope of making the playoffs, but a loss to a Brad Gushue-skipped Canada team has ended the Airdrie curlers Brier run.

After pulling their record to 4-3 with big wins over Quebec and Northwest Territories, Alberta had to beat Gushue, the Brier's defending champion, in their final game.

Canada beat Alberta 10-4 on Thursday to send SLuchinski and his team home, ending their 2024 Montana's Brier with a 4-4 record. Sluchinski and his team earned wins over A Kevin Koe-skipped Alberta wildcard team, Nunavut, Quebec, and Northwest Territories.

The Brier playoffs will kickoff this weekend, with the winner getting the opportunity to represent Canada at the men's world championship in Schaffhausen, Switzerland.
