Just like our population, business is booming in Airdrie and the Airdrie Chamber of Commerce is right there showing small businesses that Airdrie is a great place to set up shop and to prosper.

“In Airdrie we always see a significant growth in small businesses,” said Chamber President Wade Cormier. “Small businesses, both in Airdrie as well as the province and Canada, make a huge impact in their community. Entrepreneurs are usually our source for innovation, creativity and community support.”

He said many of the small businesses in Airdrie are engaged in various levels in the community including sporting teams and events, at City Hall or in religious or community groups.

“We all benefit from these businesses,” Cormier said. “A thriving small business community speaks to our quality of life and community-based economic growth. When your economy is a community-based economy I believe we all win.”

He said having a community-based economy means people are staying in Airdrie to do their shopping or visit any number of services, that in turn encourages small businesses to invest further into the community, “and we all prosper from that.”

Cormier added keeping Airdronians investing in Airdrie helps to maintain Airdrie’s identity and small town feel. Think of local businesses as your neighbours. When you support a local business, you are in turn supporting your own needs for recreational, social programs and cultural programs that these businesses support.

“Airdrie is that welcoming side of it. All newcomers and new businesses are welcome here, you’re welcome to come with your ideas,” he said.

From the Chamber’s perspective, they work to support business in Airdrie by providing networking opportunities, mentoring and connecting those small businesses and their owners.

“We provide business learning opportunities and business-to-business networking events,” Cormier said.

He added the Chamber is there to help connect businesses with other support groups in Airdrie including Welcoming Airdrie, the Airdrie Business Awards, AirdrieFest, Volunteer Airdrie and more.

“The resources available to small businesses in Airdrie are exceptional,” Cormier said. “Airdrie is a great place for a business to grow and develop.”
