Chief Administrative Officer Carol Borschneck from Rocky View Foundation gave council an overview of the foundation’s activities over the past year and what is on the table for the coming year.

Two major projects are underway, one in Crossfield and one in Airdrie.

The foundation is requesting letters of support from council for borrowing for these projects.

Council subsequently agreed to provide the letters of support.

Council also heard that a copy of the regional needs and feasibility study done in 2010 by the foundation will be soon be available for council’s perusal.

Jeanette Richter of the Beiseker Station Museum requested permission for the Museum Society to microfilm the Village of Beiseker’s minutes.

The Society is also requesting the Village contribute to the project by donating $2,720. Council agreed to both requests.

• Village Foreman Bill Hnybida reported that the lift station pump has been repaired and replaced.

• He also told council there is a sewer problem at 202, 4th Street that will require a camera investigation to determine just what is wrong.

• A new box for the three-ton truck will cost about $9,620. The painting can be done in Beiseker for about $500 less, Hnybida reported. Council agreed to the expenditure.

• Mayor Bruce Rowe advised that he is working on a meeting with 9-1-1 to iron out the difficulties that Beiseker Fire Department has been experiencing regarding call outs.

He has already spoken with the supervisors at 9-1-1 so that they are aware of the problem.

• He also attended a recent mayor’s caucus and had a chance at that meeting to speak with provincial Municipal Affairs Minister Hector Goudreau. An announcement regarding the Kneehill Water Commission’s debt should be coming in the near future, Rowe said.

Council will be sending its annual letter to the County of Rocky View Recreation Board requesting funding in the amount of $24,700.

In a bid to save money, Village Chief Administrative Officer Jo Lambert agreed to conduct the annual audit for the Beiseker Library.

The next meeting of Beiseker council will be March 14 at 7 p.m. in council chambers. The public is welcome.
