Rocky View County council unanimously approved a 10-acre first parcel out located in the Conrich area, Dec. 6.

The remaining 133 acres, adjacent to Canadian National Railway’s (CN) Logistics Park, will continue to be farmed. It is owned by CN.

The new parcel will be serviced by a private sewage treatment system and water well.

A large pond and wetland takes up a good portion of the acreage as does a setback for Township Road 250, hence the need for a larger than usual first parcel out.

No one spoke either in favour or opposition to the proposal, nor did the County receive any comments from the 38 letters it circulated regarding the acreage.

Council unanimously approved a rezoning proposal and subdivision application for a nine-acre farmstead parcel located eight kilometres west of Airdrie on the south side of Highway 567.

The farmstead parcel contains an existing home, a mature shelter belt and landscaping, accessory buildings and a dugout that collects drainage from across the site.

The remaining 156 acres, currently used to grow hay, will continue to be farmed.

Servicing is currently provided to the 70-year-old existing house through a well and septic field. The farmstead will have one point of access from the Big Hill Springs Road, while two paved roads will continue to provide access to the agricultural land.

No one spoke either in favour or in opposition to the proposal.

No response was received from 15 letters circulated to the houses in the surrounding area.
