Cochrane RCMP is investigating the theft of a utility trailer with two all terrain vehicles (ATVs) and two dirt bikes inside from a residence in Bearspaw on Jan. 17.
“The gentleman who owns the trailer and the equipment had it stored at a relative's residence in Bearspaw. He went over to visit and get the trailer to go do stuff with his kids and realized it was gone,” Cochrane RCMP Constable Peter Wood said. “There were tire tracks that were present but not distinguishable as to what kind of vehicle it was on but we're going to guess it was a truck.”
The stolen utility trailer is a black Fror brand with Alberta (Alta.) license plate 4YR233 and vehicle identification number (VIN) 5NHUSNZ23FT450307.
One of the stolen ATVs is a dark green 2007 Arctic Cat 500 with Alta. license plate number DWP25 and VIN 4U07ATV67T200035. The other is a yellow 2011 Can-AM Outlander with Alta. license place number EWC69 and VIN 3JBEWCN17BJ001478.
The stolen dirt bikes are a white 2007 Honda CRF250R with Alta. license plate DWP27 and VIN JH2ME10277M300221 and a white 2001 Yamaha YZF450R, Alta. license plate DWP26 and VIN JYACJ10C17A020638.
The stolen trailer also contained numerous pieces of dirt bike and quad riding equipment, according to Wood.
RCMP in Cochrane is also investigating the theft of tires and rims from the Cochrane Dodge dealership on River Heights Drive on Jan. 14.
The tires and rims were stolen over the space of approximately four hours. Two males can be seen on video surveillance footage provided to RCMP entering the dealership's lot in a dark-coloured Ford F-150 pickup truck on three separate occasions, according to Cochrane RCMP Media Liaison Constable Jennifer Brewer. Each time the two suspects put eight tires and eight rims in the bed of the truck.
The thieves got away with a total of 24 tires and rims valued at approximately $20,000, according to Brewer.
