Four charges have been laid against 20-year-old Trey Wylie of Airdrie after an early morning shooting on July 30. The shooting happened on Eighth Street near the community of Silver Springs in Airdrie’s northwest, according to RCMP.

Cst. Jason Curtis said officers were called to the scene at 4:20 a.m. after receiving complaints of a fight in progress with shots fired. According to Curtis, Wylie, and another man who can’t be identified because he is not facing charges, were walking southbound on Eighth Street when they got into an argument. Curtis said he was not able to comment on the nature of the argument.

Wylie made his first appearance in Airdrie Provincial Court on July 31 to answer to charges of robbery with a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless use of a firearm, and assault with a weapon, said Curtis. The outcome of his court appearance was not known at press time.

Wylie was in custody at the Calgary Remand Centre pending the outcome of his court appearance when he was expected to enter a plea and undergo a bail hearing, according to Curtis.

Curtis said Wylie and the second 20-year-old man are known to each other.

The Police Dog Services Unit, General Investigative Section and Crime Reduction Unit were involved in the investigation, according to RCMP.
