Airdrie Rural RCMP is investigating two thefts from rural properties the week of April 19, according to Airdrie RCMP Media Liaison Constable Jason Curtis.
A resident of the Stage Coach area of Sharp Hill south of Airdrie reported the theft of a boat, trailer and a quad from his driveway on April 22, according to Curtis.
“The gentleman last noticed (his belongings in the driveway) about 7:30 in the evening, spent the evening in his house, woke up and they were gone,” Curtis said. “We made neighbourhood inquiries. There’s no video surveillance so we’re putting the information out there to warn people it’s happening, and also if anyone has any information they can contact us.”
“Unfortunately, the boat was on a trailer and the keys were in the boat,” he added.
The stolen items are a Yamaha Grizzly 700 quad, a Blue Bayliner 245 boat and an EZ Loader 7500 boat trailer, according to Curtis.
Two days later, a resident of a home on Range Road 21 within Rocky View County reported the theft of a truck, trailer and two skidoos from his driveway to RCMP.
“He found that his truck, his large gooseneck trailer and two snowmobiles along with various items that were in the trailer were missing,” Curtis said. “(The theft) occurred sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. He came home from work and found them missing so this was a daytime occurrence.”
Curtis said officers spoke to neighbours and the RCMP Forensic Identification Section also assisted with the investigation.
The truck was recovered in Calgary later in the evening of April 24.
The trailer, a 2006 V-Nose Haulmark, and the two snowmobiles, one a 2014 Ski-Doo Summits and a 1993 Ski-Doo Skandic, remain missing.
Curtis said RCMP do not believe the two thefts are linked.
“It’s definitely always possible but there’s very limited evidence left behind. It could be but we can’t jump to any conclusions, either,” he said.
