Strathmore RCMP is asking the public for any information following a string of vehicle break-ins that occurred in Langdon in the early morning hours of March 19.

Cpl. Curtis Peters, media relations officer with the RCMP K Division, said two suspects gained entry to 13 vehicles in the hamlet and stole various items before leaving in a black pick-up truck.

In one vehicle, the suspects found a garage door opener and stole property from the owner’s garage, Peters said, adding multiple vehicle thefts from an area in one night is not uncommon.

The best method of defence against this type of crime, he said, is ensuring the vehicle is locked.

“In this case, these vehicles were entered and the vast majority of those were unlocked,” he said. “Please lock your vehicles.”

Pharmacies robbed

Airdrie RCMP is investigating an armed robbery of a Crossfield pharmacy and subsequent robbery of an Airdrie pharmacy March 20.

At approximately 11 a.m., RCMP reported a man entered the Crossfield Pharmacy on Railway Street with a small knife demanding money and prescription narcotics.

The suspect did not manage to get either item and was last seen walking southbound on Railway Street, according to Airdrie RCMP Const. Jennifer Weedmark.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, six feet tall with a medium build wearing a grey hoodie, sunglasses, a face mask with white lines in it, blue jeans, a black backpack and was carrying a knife.

At 12:20 p.m., RCMP responded to a robbery at the Sandstone Pharmacy on Eighth Street. The suspect matched the description of the man who allegedly robbed the pharmacy in Crossfield.

Weedmark said the suspect did not have a weapon and fled the scene on foot, heading westbound on Bayside Drive with an undisclosed amount of cash and pharmaceuticals.

“Both incidents are being actively investigated as well as possible links between the two,” she said.

If you have any information about any crime, contact your local RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
