Three Calgary residents have been charged with numerous offenses after stealing three vehicles.

At approximately 6:20 p.m. on June 19, Strathmore RCMP were notified by Calgary Police Services of a stolen vehicle leaving the city and entering Rocky View County.

Calgary Police had been tracking a stolen Toyota Tundra pickup truck as well as a Subaru.

By the time Strathmore RCMP tracked the trio down, they had ditched the Toyota and were all in the Subaru.

“They had actually gotten the (Toyota) stuck in the mud and left it and they all jumped in to the Subaru,” said Strathmore RCMP Cst. Andrew Lindsay.

The suspects abandoned the stolen Subaru in an effort to avoid apprehension before stealing a Ford F-150 pickup truck from a rural property.

The occupants of the vehicle refused to stop for RCMP.

An RCMP HAWCS helicopter tracked the vehicle from above and relayed its location to officers on the ground who were able to cut the group off when they turned off-road at the intersection of Township 220 and Rural Route 261.

Officers approached the truck when it became stuck in the mud in a field.

“They held up in the car for a bit and we had to actually break the windows,” said Lindsay.

“After we broke the windows the three fled from the vehicle and we caught up with two of them on the road (RR 261) and the driver of the vehicle was caught trying to steal another vehicle.”

Brent Majauskas, 29, of Calgary has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, resisting arrest, two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of possession of stolen property more than $5,000, theft under $5,000, possession of break and enter tools, mischief and failing to comply with a recognizance.

Sanjai Prassad, 38, and Amanda Higgins, 26, both from Calgary have been charged with flight from police, resisting arrest, theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of stolen property over $5,000, theft under $5,000, possession of break-and-enter tools and mischief.

Prassad and Higgins were remanded into custody and scheduled to appear in Calgary Provincial Court on June 24.

Majauskas has been remanded into custody and scheduled to appear in Strathmore Provincial Court on July 2.
