On Aug. 14, the Beiseker RCMP was called to a structure fire northeast of Conrich.

An out-building on a rural property was burning, but police were unable to locate the residents. The resulting investigation led to the discovery of two vehicles that had recently been reported stolen from Calgary.

With the assistance of the Calgary RCMP Auto Theft department, Beiseker RCMP executed a search warrant later that day, resulting in the recovery of two additional stolen vehicles, including a five-tonne truck and a quad. The police also seized two loaded .22 calibre rifles.

The incident is still under investigation and no charges have been laid.

On August 25, Cochrane RCMP and Redwood Meadows Fire and EMS services attended a collision involving two motorcycles on Highway 22, just south of Bragg Creek.

One man had to be dislodged from the rear fender of one of the motorcycles. He suffered severe head injuries and had to be airlifted to the Foothills Hospital by STARS air ambulance.

Witnesses said a group of motorcycles were driving southbound on Highway 22 when they were forced to brake suddenly. One of the motorcycles was unable to stop in time and rear-ended a fellow rider. The impact of the collision caused both riders to be thrown from their bikes. The rider of the second bike received minor injuries and was treated on scene.

Police do not believe alcohol was a factor but are trying to determine if speed may have contributed to the collision.
