On July 21 at about 3:28 p.m., Airdrie Rural and Beiseker RCMP were dispatched to a theft of a trailer from the Whispering Spruce Campground in Balzac. The theft is believed to have occurred some time over the past six days.

The camper trailer is described as 2007 Pilbrim Legend, is nine metres in length and has brownish red and dark green decals with mountains on the front and sides, along with the word “Legends” in large writing.

Impaired driver arrested

On July 23 shortly before 8 a.m., Airdrie RCMP responded to complaint of a possible impaired driver. A concerned citizen called police, providing a detailed description of the suspect, his vehicle and his direction of travel.

Immediate patrols were made in an attempt to locate the vehicle and a short time later, a member of the Airdrie Integrated Traffic Unit located the vehicle driving on a residential street in Airdrie.

Police found the 51-year-old driver from Airdrie to be intoxicated. The driver was arrested and taken to the Airdrie RCMP detachment where he provided breath samples that were three times over the legal limit. Charges of impaired driving and driving over the legal limit will be laid with a court appearance to be scheduled in September 2013.

Impaired driving is one of the top priorities of the Integrated Traffic Units in the Province of Alberta. Today’s occurrence serves as a reminder that impaired drivers can threaten the safety of all road users, any time of the day, any day of the week, according to an Airdrie RCMP press release.

Police are asking for assistance in solving this crime and to help locate the trailer. If you have any information on this incident, contact the Airdrie RCMP at 403-945-7200, Beiseker RCMP at 403-947-3420, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
