ORIGINAL STORY:

As investigators continue their search, Calgary police are asking Balzac residents who live in the area near Highway 566 and Range Road 293 to thoroughly search their properties for any indication that missing Calgary resident Ryan Porterfield may have visited the area.

"We are asking the public to continue their efforts in helping us locate a Calgary man who was reported missing last week," stated a press release from the Calgary Police Service (CPS).

Porterfield was last seen in the Calgary neighbourhood of Elboya on March 15, according to CPS. His grey 2021 Hyundai Elantra was located two days later, abandoned on Range Road 293, approximately 500 metres north of the intersection of Highway 566 in Balzac, north of the Costco.

"He last communicated with his family via text message on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at 8:15 p.m.," CPS stated in their release. "It is out of character for [him] to not be in contact and his family and police are concerned for his wellbeing."

He is described as 6’1" tall and approximately 170 pounds with a slim build. He has blue-green eyes, slicked back brown hair, and a long beard, along with tattoos on his shoulder, left arm, and a half sleeve on his right arm.

He typically wears black Carhartt work pants, a blue Altec work shirt, a black toque, Ray-Ban aviator sunglasses, and black Etnies skateboard shoes, according to the CPS press release.

Photos of Porterfield and a map indicating the area investigators are asking citizens to search are available on the City of Calgary newsroom.

Anyone who knows of his whereabouts is asked to call CPS at 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers through either of the following methods:
