Motorists can expect some delays in the coming months on both Highway 566 and Highway 791.

Both highways will undergo rehabilitation project between June 10 and Oct. 15, as construction crews will overlay eight kilometres on Highway 791 and 21 km on Highway 566.

The cost of the project is $8 million and is part of the 2014 Alberta budget. The project will reinvest in the province’s existing infrastructure by focusing on strategic rehabilitation and maintenance to extend the lifespan of existing roads and bridges.

Traffic will be reduced to alternating single-lane traffic in these construction zones that will be controlled by lights or flag persons.

The hours of construction will be between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. and depending on volume of traffic, delays are to be expected.

Speed limits in construction zones will be reduced to 50 km/h and the projects are slated for completion by Oct. 15, weather permitting.

Fines for speeding are doubled in construction zones, and to obey all flag persons, signs and signals.
