Crossfield and Rocky View County held an open house March 26 at the Crossfield Community Centre to educate and get feedback from residents about the upcoming Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP).
An IDP between the County and the Town of Crossfield is designed to set out guidelines for how the two bodies collaborate on developments and growth around their bordering lands.
With Crossfield’s expanded borders, and expectations to grow in the coming years, County senior planner Drew Hindman says setting up an IDP is important.
“It’s a means of how the county and the Town of Crossfield will communicate and collaborate around our shared boundaries in the future,” said Hindman.
“The important aspect about this is it’s all about relationship building. With Crossfield being one of our important partners in the area, we want to build on the relationship we have with them.”
Crossfield’s Assistant Development Officer Brenda Wang agreed with Hindman, adding residents should take an interest in municipal government.
“We want to identify our future growth areas. This plan is more about how the governments will work together and build a relationship,” said Wang. “I encourage people to take a look at the map and the IDP.”
The next step for the IDP is to have the feedback study presented to both councils for review.
