Rocky View County council received the Council Road Map: Framework for the Future document July 12.
The document outlines a process for analyzing and reviewing the current Growth Management Strategy (GMS) and the feedback given at the Reeve’s Task Force, which took place last September.
The task force included a 17-member committee made up of community representatives from around the county who worked on growth related matters.
Public forums were held last September.
“Our residents gave us valuable feedback about how they want growth defined during the Reeve’s Task Force,” said Reeve Rolly Ashdown.
“It’s our job to now look at all the feedback and the Growth Management Strategy and balance the needs and wants of residents as we grow.”
The council road map outlines three phases. Phases one and two focus on the review of the current GMS and address how to manage the County’s growing population and infrastructure while retaining fiscal responsibility.
The third phase focuses on analyzing the feedback from the Task Force while considering the GMS.
“We want residents involved in every step of this process,” said Ashdown.
“Their feedback is vital to the success of us achieving the recommendations outlined in the Reeve’s Task Force and defining how we will grow and what we value.”
