After listening to the wishes of the majority of residents, Beiseker council unanimously moved to scrap a centre median planned for Main Street from its beautification program.

Instead, the Village will forge ahead with installing new sidewalks on both the north and south sides of the street this year.

Residents spoke against the median at a public meeting on June 21.

The sidewalk project will commence this summer and a street pavement overlay will be done in 2011.

After serious flooding occurred at the condo site last summer, a new storm drainage system for the area has been engineered and it is expected that flooding will no longer be a problem in this area.”

The speed limit on the south access road will now be 30 km for about 100 metres past the village’s shop. This stretch of road, with its new pavement is quickly becoming a racetrack. The signs will soon be moved and enforcement will follow.

The next meeting of Beiseker council will be July 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers.
