The City of Airdrie 2014 property taxes are due June 30 and payments made after the deadline will incur a penalty.

According to the City, property tax notices are mailed to residents on May 30 every year and are due June 30.

“In 2014, tax notices were sent out by May 30 and due June 30,” said Lynda Phelan, team leader, corporate communications, City of Airdrie.

“Avoid penalties by paying your taxes on time even if you have appealed your property assessment. Property taxes cover about 40 per cent of the City’s annual operating budget with the remainder covered by provincial grants, license fees and user fees.”

Residents who own a condo will receive a separate Taxation Notice for parking stall(s) or storage unit(s), according to the City.

The notices are mailed out at the same time as property taxes.

Property taxes are calculated using the property assessment completed by the assessment department.

Assessors evaluate properties based on a number of variables including: age, lot and home size, building features and finishes, construction quality and property location.

The purpose of the assessment is to assess all properties at typical market value on the same valuation date.

The City’s taxation department collects property taxes from all Airdrie property owners. This includes the collection of funds for education property taxes and for the Rocky View Foundation, a not-for-profit association dedicated to providing low rental housing units for seniors in the City of Airdrie.

If you did not receive a tax notice, please contact the taxation department by calling 403-948-8800.

The City of Airdrie offers a number of options to pay your property taxes including:
