Human remains identified in Rocky View County homicide near Cochrane

An autopsy was completed at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary on April 4. Police are treating the death as a homicide.

The Alberta RCMP has confirmed that human remains discovered by Rocky View County firefighters on April 3 are those of 33-year-old Kyle Schuiling, a resident of Calgary. 

According to the RCMP, on April 3, at approximately 5:30 a.m., the Tsuut’ina Nation Fire Department responded to a grass fire near Range Road 40 and Township Road 241 in Rocky View County. While they were extinguishing the fire, human remains, now identified as those of Schuiling, were located. 

An autopsy was completed at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary on April 4. Police are treating the death as a homicide.

The case now falls under the jurisdiction of the the RCMP's Alberta Major Crimes Unit (MCU).
