Airdrie RCMP executed a search warrant at a rural residence Aug. 5, which resulted in the arrest of two men, according to Airdrie RCMP Constable Matt Gervais.
“We had reasons to believe there was stolen property out on this land and so we wrote a search warrant,” he said.
RCMP recovered a Ford F350 pickup truck and a Starcraft travel trailer from the property west of Balzac. Both vehicles had previously been reported stolen, although Gervais did not know where or when they were originally stolen.
John Constantine Piche, 44, of Rocky View County is charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. Piche will appear in Calgary Provincial Court Aug. 31.
According to Gervais, Piche is known to RCMP and also faces a number of other charges relating to breaches of conditions stemming from previous crimes. He is currently in custody.
A 79-year-old man is charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime. According to Gervais, the man’s name cannot be released until the charges are sworn or the paperwork is completed.
Paint Theft
The Michaels store on Main Street was the victim of a hefty shoplifting incident Aug. 5 by two unknown male suspects, according to Airdrie RCMP, which was notified of the crime Aug. 6 by store employees.
RCMP is hoping the public will be able to help identify the two men who were caught on video surveillance entering the store at approximately 12:37 p.m.
The two suspects are alleged to have taken approximately $1,000 of paint products and paint supplies from the store before leaving at about 1:07 p.m.
Gervais said he was not able to provide descriptions of the two suspects as employees at the business had not provided RCMP with descriptions.
