Arbourist requested by council to monitor trees

Crossfield Council voted unanimously at the July 16, meeting to pay $2,500 left over from the 2013 parks department budget to bring in an arbourist to asses the trees located on Town-owned land.

Crossfield Council voted unanimously at the July 16, meeting to pay $2,500 left over from the 2013 parks department budget to bring in an arbourist to asses the trees located on Town-owned land.

As reported in the July 8, edition of the Rocky View Weekly, Councillor Garry Richardson brought his concern about aging cottonwood poplar trees to council on July 2.

He said the trees are known to rot from the inside out and fall down during windstorms, which he felt put residents at unnecessary risk for damage to property and injuries.

Councillor Jo Tennant requested administration to have the arbourist complete a cost outline to rectify any dangerous Town-owned trees and to provide a blanket letter for residents with information about aging cottonwood poplar trees.

Advance vote

The advance vote for the municipal election has been set for Oct. 10 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Town Office.

Public Hearing

Council set the public hearing for the rezoning of a section of land in the community of Iron Landing from Residential Single Detached Large Lot to Residential Single Detached Medium Lot District for Aug. 13, from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
