Alberta RCMP issue over 2,200 tickets during holidays

Alberta RCMP issued over 2,200 traffic tickets over the holidays. According to police, between Dec. 24, 2022 and Jan. 2, 2023, the Alberta RCMP worked to make this #SeasonForCaring safe for all road users.

According to police, between Dec. 24, 2022 and Jan. 2, 2023, the Alberta RCMP worked to make this #SeasonForCaring safe for all road users. In an effort to uphold traffic safety, RCMP carried out enforcement initiatives and issued a total of 2,296 traffic tickets across the province in addition to laying 172 impaired driving charges for a total of 2,468 offences.  

Overall, 707 individuals were ticketed for speeding, 45 motorists were caught distracted driving, and 172 impaired drivers were removed from the roads by way of provincial Immediate Roadside Sanctions. Additionally, 1,544 motorists received tickets for traffic safety violations including careless driving, driving with a prohibited or suspended license, moving offences, and more.
