A stolen car leaving from Calgary was pursued by Airdrie police April 6, before the suspects fled into Carstairs.

"Because our jurisdiction borders with Airdrie RCMP, we work in collaboration with them frequently," said Staff Sgt. Chad Fournier. "We were made aware that Airdrie RCMP were following this vehicle northbound from Airdrie, and we moved our resources to engage as well."

According to Fourier, Calgary Police Service (CPS) located the stolen vehicle with Calgary's city limits in the early morning hours, and followed the vehicle north, where it entered Airdrie.

"Airdrie RCMP engaged the stolen vehicle, which ended up fleeing northbound into Carstairs," Fournier said. "At that point, the suspects abandoned the stolen vehicle, as it was highly damaged."

They then broke into a nearby residence and stole keys to another vehicle, before the homeowner scared them off. They fled in the vehicle, Fournier said, and were last seen heading north.

Didsbury RCMP has now assumed control of the investigation, which is ongoing. The suspects are believed to be from the City of Calgary, but Fournier did not disclose additional information on them.
