On Jan. 29, Airdrie RCMP charged an Airdrie man with multiple offenses relating to a search warrant executed at the man’s residence in the Allen Street area in November 2015.
“He was arrested in a vehicle near his residence,” Airdrie RCMP Constable Curtis Peters said.
The search warrant was executed after an investigation by the Airdrie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit and was based on tips received from the public.
“Out of concern for the tipsters, I can’t expand very much other than to say that members of the public contacted the police to say they were concerned about drug dealing activities involving Mr. Gunoff,” Peters said.
Gunoff has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of MDMA for the purpose of trafficking, possession of marijuana and marijuana resin, possession of fentanyl, possession of crack cocaine and possession of the proceeds of crime.
“I do have an idea of the value of the drugs (seized), however, we are not telling people the value of seized substances,” Peters said. “Our concern is that we might be telling people that maybe aren’t facing the best circumstances that this is a good way to make money and we don’t want to do that.”
RCMP seized more than $2,000 in cash during the search warrant.
Gunoff is in custody and will make his first court appearance in Airdrie Provincial Court on Feb. 11.
Truck theft
A resident of Stonegate in Airdrie’s northwest reported the theft of his work truck from in front of his home sometime in the early morning of Jan. 31 to RCMP, according to Airdrie RCMP Media Liaison Constable Meagan Fillion.
The white Ford F-350 was parked on Stonegate Drive. The resident discovered the theft at 7:14 a.m. and called RCMP. The truck had a welder box in the back as well as a toolbox.
Fillion said the vehicle was recovered on Feb. 1.
“It was discovered in a rural area and had sustained some damage,” she said.
“If anybody has any information about who might be responsible for (stealing) it we’d definitely appreciate that information.”
Snowmobiles stolen
Two snowmobiles and a flat-deck trailer were stolen from a rural residence near Burma Road southwest of Airdrie and reported to RCMP on Jan. 30.
“At approximately 2:50 p.m., we received a complaint of two snowmobiles that were stolen on a flat deck trailer,” Fillion said. “They had been stolen within the last 14 hours.”
The snowmobiles are a blue 2003 Polaris RMK 800 and a yellow 2003 Skidoo Summit 600. The owner provided RCMP with photos of the vehicles.
“The snowmobiles have a few identifying features,” Fillion said. “On the left side of the Polaris is a gold trigger which is unique.”
The trigger allows the rider to use either hand to operate the throttle.
“Once again we’re asking for the public’s assistance in locating the snowmobiles,” Fillion said.
