$8,000 stolen from ATM in local Pizzeria

According to restaurant employee Christina Lappas, unknown people cut the front door lock and disabled the building’s alarm system before entering through the front door.

“They broke into an ATM machine and stole about $8,000,” said Lappas. “They also broke into one of the VLT (Video Lottery Terminal) machines but it had no money in it.”

Lappas said the suspects also broke into the restaurant’s office and attempted to open the safe, but were unsuccessful.

Airdrie RCMP could not be reached for comment at press time.
