More than 200 people attended the Airdrie Town and Country Centre for the return of the annual Mayor's Prayer and Breakfast on May 3, 2022. The event is set to return this year on May 3.

Mayor Peter Brown's annual Leadership Prayer Breakfast is set to return to Airdrie on Wednesday, May 3.

Hosted by the City of Airdrie, the event will take place at the Town and Country Centre from 7:15 to 9 a.m.

The breakfast will feature guest speakers Sam Kolias, Chief Executive Officer of Boardwalk Communities, and Josiah Raguindin, from the Airdrie Christian Academy.

This year marks the ninth edition of the annual breakfast, which first began in 2012. Brown expressed his excitement about the upcoming event, stating attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a great breakfast while supporting a great cause.

He emphasized the value of the event as an opportunity for the community to come together – something that has been challenging during the pandemic.

"You get to hear some great, inspirational speakers, and it's an opportunity for all of us to gather, which we haven't been able to do in the last few years," he said.

Although there is no set theme for this year's breakfast, all proceeds will support Airdrie Meals on Wheels, a local non-profit organization that is celebrating its 40th year of operations locally. Last year's event raised funds for the Airdrie and District Victims Assistance Society (ADVAS), supporting those affected by domestic violence.

General admission tickets for the Leadership Prayer Breakfast are available for $20, with seniors 65 years and older receiving a discounted rate of $15 each. Attendees 25 years old and younger receive entry for $10 each. Those interested in purchasing tickets can visit eventbrite.ca or follow updates on the event's Facebook page.
