Kim Wuirch – a local author, psychic healer, empath and spiritual mentor – said writing was not on her radar prior to 2014. Now, as she sets to release her third book July 20, she hopes her words can help others.

“I didn't think I was a writer,” Wuirch said. “Honestly, even after I wrote the first book, people would call me an author and [I thought], ‘I just wrote one book and that doesn't make me an author.’”

Her journey to becoming an author began one morning in September 2014, when, she said, she became “awakened” nearly overnight.

“What triggered it was literally hearing the word empath, reading it and realizing that I'd never heard that term for what it meant,” Wuirch said. “It freaked me out, because I'm very analytical and everything was telling me this is true and I was spiting it really hard.”

She said she started to notice physical symptoms, including fatigue.

“I started hearing and noticing things,” she said. “I didn't want to tell anyone what was going on because I could literally talk to dead people and angels.”

Wuirch said that fear and a desire to help others propelled her to pen her first book, Waking Up An Empath, which documented her experiences in the year following her “awakening.”

“I was worried I was going to die and never be able to explain it to my son...,” she said. “I was documenting everything in case he went through the same thing. I didn't want him to be as scared as I was, or to think he was a complete freak or think he was alone.”

Her second book, Awakened Empath, was written in less than a month, Wuirch said, and focused on what she considers topics and language for advanced abilities and experiences.

Spiritual Reality, the third book she’s penned, is an “in-between” to her series, she said, and is split up into sections for different empathic levels in an effort to make navigating the book easier.

Many of her followers and readers, she said, were pushing her for more content.

“My fans made me [write this book],” she said with a laugh. “There's such a demand for it. [This is] literally to appease them until I get to the third book in the series.”

Wuirch is hosting an official book launch July 20 at the Nose Creek Valley Museum from 12 to 2:30 p.m. She said the local support has been amazing and she encourages fans to come meet her at the event, where Spiritual Reality will be available for purchase.

“I'll sign it for them and then they’ll be entered in a draw for a gift basket,” Wuirch said. “It was just going to be that simple, but little did I know…it grew.”

She said nearly every business she asked to sponsor a gift basket did, and 15 baskets – with some valued around $200 – are up for grabs. She added supporters have also offered to provide baked goods for the event.

“It's crazy,” she said. “This poor little museum is going to be bombarded.”
