January’s list of new and familiar programs at the library includes Preschool Storytime.

While our programmers are on a break until Jan. 9, 2023, here at Airdrie Public Library (APL), it’s time again to point out some of the new and exciting programs that have been planned for the new year.

First off, though, we have some minor house cleaning.

The library will be closed for the holidays on Sunday, Dec. 25 and Monday, Dec. 26, and then again on Sunday, Jan. 1 and Monday, Jan. 2.

Now, onto some of the programs coming this January.

Preschool programs return, including Travelling Tales and Tunes, Babytime, Rhymes and Songs, and all the other favourites.

After School @APL is back with four new offerings for patrons ages six to 13. Look for Numeration Nation, Read Aloud Revival, Boredom Hacks, and Talk Less, Hear More.

The LEGO Club returns, and we’ve also launched a Dungeons and Dragons Club catered to patrons ages eight to 13.

Speaking of dragons, Friday nights will roar with the sound of adult Dungeons and Dragons players as they explore this enduring board game. All skill levels are welcome.

Makerspace Explorers and Makers Explorers: Family Edition will meet weekly to work on a different piece of technology. Topics include robotics, circuitry, 3D design/printing and much more. The Makerspace is also offering a special weekly Full STEAM Ahead program, that explores the digital world.

Second Voices Project is a series of Holocaust survivors' testimonials by second- and third-generation descendants.

Indigenous Dreamcatcher Making Night will see award-winning artist Jaadass Jagwaa teach the craft of making dreamcatchers.

Family Literacy Day returns with a focus on sharing stories and January will also feature a special Family Reading Club complete with prizes.

The over 50 crowd will continue to have Senior Coffee and Conversation and Senior Drop-in Cribbage.

Wii and Tales for the Tall and Creative Connections for the Tall will pick up again, offering unique programming for adults with differing abilities.
