The Rotary Club of Airdrie is inviting residents out for their first ever free concert in a new Rotary Concert Series on Saturday.

The concert series is intended to help local entertainers and local residents encounter one another to strengthen the ties of the community through music.

The event is set to take place on Sept. 9 from 6 to 10 p.m., with a special performance from Steve Jevne, featuring Jase Ernest. The event will take place at 948 Brewing Company, is free to attend, and is friendly for all ages. The Rotary Club will be accepting $10 donations for those wishing to support the local club.

Cameron Christianson, who is a spokesperson for the local Rotary Club, said the event will help raise awareness of the club’s work within the city.

“The Rotary Club is hoping to introduce more residents to the club and what we do and how we raise funds for the community,” he said. “We are trying hard to increase our membership and keep the club active and strong in Airdrie.”

Highlighted performer, Steve Jevne, is an artist based out of Calgary. He started writing songs at the age of 14 and has had a significant career within the music industry.

According to his website, Jevne is a multi-instrumentalist, being able to play the guitar, piano, drums, and bass guitar. Jevne debuted his solo album in 2022.

“Steve is known for his high energy shows and ability to seek out and put together some of Calgary’s finest musicians,” the artist's website states.

Jase Ernest, an up-and-coming singer and songwriter, will also be featured at the event.

Based in Airdrie, Ernest provides a unique blend of country and folk music. His repertoire of songs include music from different decades, with some of his own original works thrown in for good measure.

The Rotary Club of Airdrie is one of many throughout the globe, making them part of the over one million Rotarians world-wide. Through their work, they have raised over one million dollars for local causes such as the Airdrie Foodbank and Community Links.
