Cover band from Mexico set to rock Bragg Creek next week

With each passing city they perform in, The Stixx's Canadian tour has gained momentum, showcasing their music and leaving audiences in awe.

Since igniting their Canadian tour, The Stixx, a popular cover band from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, has been delivering electrifying performances across western Canada.

And now, they're set to rock out in Rocky View County for the first time.

With their dynamic repertoire spanning iconic metal and rock bands like Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and Judas Priest, the band has become a sensation in local establishments, garnering immense support and leaving fans eager for their next show.

As their Canadian tour continues until Sept. 2 in different towns and cities, The Stixx most recently performed in Manitoba, and are now gearing up for their July 14 Bragg Creek performance at the Rockies Tavern and Grill.

The journey of The Stixx began almost two years ago, and their venture into Canada materialized when some enthusiastic Canadian visitors to Puerto Vallarta urged the group to tour their homeland. Fher Aguilera, the band's founder and drummer, expressed deep gratitude for the warm reception The Stixx has received from Canadians already, and hopes to make future visits a regular occurrence.

“It’s our first tour and first time in Canada,” Aguilera said. “I met Diego Aramis (guitarist) seven years ago and we became good friends. Then, almost a year and a half ago, we started the project along with Joel Creano (vocalist and base guitarist) and Steve Good (vocalist and guitarist).”

With each passing city they perform in, The Stixx's Canadian tour has gained momentum, showcasing their musical talents and leaving audiences in awe. From the lively streets of Winnipeg to Jackfish Lake in Alberta, their performances have become well-received by hundreds of listeners.

The Stixx's ability to flawlessly recreate the timeless hits of renowned rock groups has solidified its reputation as one of Puerto Vallarta's premier cover bands. The audience response in Manitoba was nothing short of ecstatic, as the band's infectious energy and flawless renditions of rock classics left concert-goers craving more.

“We started the tour last week in Winnipeg and we opened it with a full house there,” Aguilera recalled. “People have received our music extremely well and many people already know the group from the time they visited Mexico during the winter months.”

Currently lighting up stages across Alberta, The Stixx continues to charm audiences with their performances. The musicians' passion shines through as they breathe new life into beloved rock anthems, delivering an electrifying and memorable show.

“Now our plan is to complete the tour, which is two months long until September. We have two shows coming up in Edmonton and after the tour, we will go back to Mexico to continue playing there as we do every week,” Aguilera said. “It’s the low season there, and that’s why we decided to tour here through the summer months and take the opportunity to visit friends.”

Aguilera said The Stixx is excited to share their diverse repertoire as their music includes elements of blues, classic, hard and glam rock.

“The fun part is that we each have different but similar influences when it comes to music,” he said.

Rock-lovers interested in seeing The Stixx live in Bragg Creek on July 14 can purchase tickets for $20 at the Rockies Tavern & Grill. For reservations, people can call 403-949-2859.

For those who can't make the July 14 performance, The Stixx are scheduled to play the Rockies Tavern and Grill again toward the end of their tour, on Aug. 20.
