L'École des Petits Amis, a French-immersion preschool in Airdrie, has announced it will be permanently closing its doors at the end of June, after a decade of offering French-immersion songs, games, and activities to local youth in the community.
Through a post on their Facebook page on Jan. 19, staff from L'École des Petits Amis announced this year will be the preschool's last.
“It has been our privilege to help little learners in our community grow for the last 10 years,” stated the post. “We are so grateful to have made so many connections in our community and we are so proud to have been the first school experience for so many little ones.
“We are heartbroken to be closing due to financial considerations after 10 wonderful years. Thank you so very much for your support and love over the years. Airdrie is an amazing community to raise a family and we love that we were a part of so many lives for 10 years.”
The preschool, located in north Airdrie in the Gateway neighbourhood, is a play-based preschool for children ages three and four. According to L'École des Petits Amis' website, the preschool opened in 2013 and combines French language learning with sensory play, social development, and creative activities.
It is one of two French-language preschools in Airdrie, alongside Les Petits Pieds, which is a preschool for Francophone Airdrie youth operated out of École francophone d'Airdrie.
When reached, a representative from l'École des Petits Amis declined an interview.
