A salmonella outbreak tied to tainted cantaloupe has now killed eight people — three in the U.S. and five in Canada, health officials reported Thursday.

An explosion in a detached garage in Westlock on Thursday night spread to the home, however nobody was injured in the incident.  At around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, the RCMP received a call of an explosion and fire at a home on the 9800 block of 105th Street in Westlock.  When the RCMP arrived the homeowner had attempted to put out the fire, but it got out of control, said Cpl. Gina Slaney of the RCMP's K Division. No injuries were reported during the event.
