A citywide forum will be held regarding an emerging crisis in local schools, June 24. At 7 p.m.

Dave Morris has been appointed to the role of Associate Superintendent of Learning for Rocky View Schools.

Rocky View Schools is exploring all options to find temporary solutions to the classroom space crisis in Airdrie and across the division.

On June 12 at 1:55 a.m., the Airdrie RCMP responded to a residence located on Sagewood Manor. A male resident of the home contacted police after two unknown men gained entry and assaulted him with what is believed to be a pipe and a baseball bat.

Brenda Valerio will be the new principal of Meadowbrook Middle School as of Aug. 26. “Brenda is the perfect fit for the principalship of Meadowbrook Middle,” said Rocky View Schools’ (RVS) Superintendent of Schools Greg Bass.

The Airdrie RCMP Bike Patrol Unit will be patrolling the city’s green spaces at the end of June. The unit, comprised of Cst. Patti Reid and Cst. Rob Frizzell, will be conducting patrols on city paths, parks and throughout Airdrie neighbourhoods.

The federal government is proposing new legislation to create a national securities regulator. This initiative, although well intended, is an unnecessary bureaucratic intrusion into a constitutionally protected responsibility of the provinces.

Last year, we took our first shot at it and scored for victims of crime in our region. This year, we’ll hit the ice again and we’re looking to run up the score even higher.
