Dave Morris has been appointed to the role of Associate Superintendent of Learning for Rocky View Schools.
“Exemplary team leadership, strong organizational skills and a track record of leading the development of 21st Century learning environments top the list of attributes Dave will bring to the role,” said Superintendent of Schools Greg Bass.
“I am very excited to welcome him to our executive team and I look forward to watching Dave excel in his new role.”
Currently the Director of Schools, Morris has worked in the jurisdiction since 1982. Throughout his tenure, Morris has risen up through the ranks, serving as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, director and acting associate superintendent, at seven schools and RVS’ Education Centre in Airdrie.
“I consider Rocky View my home; a system where my own children’s educational journey took place and my own career thrived,” said Morris.
“Having served in the jurisdiction for 28 years, I have a thorough understanding of the diversity of the jurisdiction. I am very excited as Associate Superintendent of Learning to further expand my role in helping Rocky View Schools meet the needs of today’s 21st Century learners through the use of digital resources and innovative instructional practices.”
In 2008, Morris was instrumental in helping to develop the jurisdiction’s “made in Rocky View” Three Year Education Plan, as well as in creating RVS’ new vision, mission, motto and logo.
Over the past two years, he has also provided his expertise in guiding members of four Superintendent Working Committees: Distributed Learning, Learning, Leadership and Communication and Public Relations. An accomplished facilitator, Morris has been the lead in Rocky View’s Three Year Plan stakeholder consultations over the past three years.
Morris holds a Masters of Education, majoring in human resources and educational governance and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary. He also holds a Diploma in Recreation from Mount Royal College and has pursued studies in geography from the University of Victoria.
