Owners of vintage and classic cars will be pulling up to show off their vehicles in Bearspaw as the local Lions Club puts on their annual car show on Saturday.

On July 22, the Bearspaw Lions Club will be putting on their third annual car show at the Bearspaw Lions Hall. The hall will open at 9 a.m., giving car owners the opportunity to register their vehicles in the show and for spectators to view all the different styles the car show has to offer.

Spearheading the show is First Vice President of the Lions Club, Grant Kitzul, who has experienced the positive benefits of the lion’s club charities. Due to a car accident that left his son in a wheelchair back in 2012, the Bearspaw Lions Club raised $2,500 to buy him an adaptive bike.

Due to the experience with his son, Kitzul felt a desire to give back to the community, prompting him to join the local Lions Club.

“I was a recipient and I thought it’s time for me to give back, so I joined,” he said.

In addition to raising money for charities, Kitzul decided to organize the car show due to his long-lasting interest in classic cars.

President of the Bearspaw Lions Club, Ward Anderson, said the car show is a great way to bring the acreage community together. He added they see people of all ages coming out to enjoy the festivities.

“The idea is to get the community together and this seems to be a really good way to do it,” Anderson said. “We get people of all ages showing up to this thing. Grandfathers bringing out there grandkids out to this and just having a really good time looking at all the different vehicles that are out there.”

Anyone wishing to register their vehicle can show up to the Bearspaw Lions Hall at 9 a.m. and pay the registration fee of $15. Kitzul said the money raised from the car show will be going towards the Veterans Association Food Bank.
