Hello C.B.,

Thank you for your question; this is definitely something that I get asked often. The first thing to do is list the things that you want to get done. Then, decide which goals are short term and which ones are longer term. Be sure to follow the rules for S.M.A.R.T goals and you are more likely to succeed in them.

S - specific

M - measurable

A - attainable

R - realistic

T - timely

Hello Tammy,

I have been asked to transfer to another city for work. I don’t know if I want to go or not. How do I decide?

Thanks,

T.S.

Hi T.S.,

One great way to work out any decision is to create a pros/cons list for yourself. This will help you to sort out your thoughts. Then, have a good look at the items in each column and weigh them. For example if you have “making more money” as a pro for going, think about how important this is to you, versus a con that might be “away from all my friends and family.” How important is this to you in comparison to the money? Talk to people who live there, bounce your thoughts off friends, or a counsellor, and do your research.

Hope this helps!

Going back:

Back to school doesn’t have to mean more stress! Be proactive, get school supplies, clothes and registrations taken care of ahead of time. Then plan for some family fun time before school starts.

Set goals for the family for the school year, such as chore lists, what you want to accomplish as a family, and family role expectations. Additionally, plan out the fun things you want to do together so you all have something to look forward to, such as long weekend day trips, Christmas break fun time etc.

It is a good idea to set this up in advance so your children know what to expect, and you will have a plan to follow throughout the year.

Feel free to contact Tammy @ [email protected] or 403-969-7409 if you have a question. I am available to work with you to overcome the obstacles you may face in life.
