Trans rights are human rights. In the wake of such ill-informed takes by Pierre Poilievre and Danielle Smith, the voices of allies need to rise up to be louder than the hate. Lives of children have been lost due to the hate being spread by anti-trans legislators and their supporters. For a group of people who claim to have children's best interests in mind, their silence to the death of individuals such as Nex, who died a day after being subjected to a brutal attack speaks volumes.
There was a time when Canada was known to be a safe haven to all. Now, it seems that safety is only the privilege of white, cis-gender, and straight. How did we get to this place? How did we embrace so much hate when it is so much easier to be kind?
If liberty and freedom is so important, why do we let ourselves be controlled by hate mongers who would have no problem throwing their supporters to the wolves if it suits them?
Protect our children means protecting all of them, even the ones society says we're supposed to hate.
