The middle weekends of July are always a busy time in Rocky View County, and this year is no different.

Fresh off the heels of the Calgary Stampede, Rocky View residents will be able to keep the party going with an assortment of fun annual events throughout the region this weekend. No matter what corner of the county you call home, you'll be able to attend a nearby celebration of community and hot summer weather.

In the northeast, Cars and Country Stars is coming back to Irricana. Now in its third year, this event has picked up a lot of momentum since its inaugural iteration in 2021, and clearly seems like a mainstay. See our preview story on page 13 to read all about who will be performing live at the toe-tapping event this weekend.

In the southeast and southwest corners of Rocky View County, both Langdon and Bragg Creek are also hosting their yearly community celebrations. Langdon Days (see story on page 11) will provide a weekend of outdoor fun, including a 32-team slo-pitch tournament, children's festival, beer gardens, food vendors, and parade.

Rocky View residents on the west end of the county don't have to miss out on any of the fun, thanks to the return of Bragg Creek Days on Saturday (see story on page 9). Similar to Langdon Days, this event is all about bringing neighbours and visitors together for a day of entertainment and community. A highlight is always the messy-but-popular pie-eating contest, not to mention the parade and live music. A big draw this year will be George Fox, a Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame inductee.

And while it's not technically taking place in Rocky View County, a short drive to Okotoks this weekend will bring you to the 2023 Alberta Summer Games, featuring many Rocky View-area athletes. See our sports section this week (pages 14 and 15) for a small sample of which locals will be in action.

Let's soak up the sun this weekend!
