Dear Editor,

I think it is important to set the record straight. The Columbus Society is a separate entity responsible for managing the Airdrie Town and Country Centre. The Columbus Society is part of the Knights of Columbus but a separate entity. Both entities are non-profit organizations that largely donate to local charities as well as support community events. Both organizations have donated over $1 million in cash or donations to the Airdrie community over the last 10 years.

The article mentioned that the Columbus Society received grants to purchase tables, chairs etc. The grant was used 100 per cent to purchase fixed upgrades including touchless toilets and faucets in the bathrooms, the sliding interior front door and flooring. Each project qualifying for a grant required that a portion of each project costs be met by the Society. This was a continuation of our efforts to keep this high traffic building in good shape to serve the community.

Rod Green,

Vice Chairman,

Columbus Society
