QMJHL playoffs: Olympiques blank Huskies 5-0 for second straight game

GATINEAU, Que. — Alexis Gendron scored twice on the power play and netminder Francesco Lapenna only had to make 12 saves to post the shutout as the Gatineau Olympiques defeated the visiting Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action on Saturday.

The Olympiques, who also won 5-0 on Friday, lead their second-round, best-of-seven series 2-0.

Cole Cormier, Samuel Savoie and Zachary Dean also scored for the Olympiques, who outshot the visitors 59-12.

The Olympiques led 1-0 after the first period and took a 4-0 lead into the third.

Huskies goaltender Thomas Couture stopped 54 of 59 shots.

Game 3 is scheduled for Tuesday at Rouyn-Noranda, Que.

REMPARTS 5 OCEANIC 1

Quebec City leads best-of-seven series 2-0

QUEBEC CITY, Que. — James Malatesta scored twice and Charle Truchon and Nicolas Savoie each chipped in with two assists as the Quebec Remparts defeated the visiting Rimouski Oceanic 5-1.

The Remparts, who won 6-3 on Friday, lead their second-round, best-of-seven series 2-0.

Evan Nause, Zachary Bolduc and Thomas Darcy also scored for the Remparts, who led 2-0 after the first period and 3-1 going into the third.

Julien Beland scored for the Oceanic, who were outshot 31-21.

Game 3 is scheduled for Tuesday in Rimouski, Que.

Sherbrooke leads best-of-seven series 2-0

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Joshua Roy scored three times and added three assists as the Sherbrooke Phoenix zapped the visiting Drummondville Voltigeurs 8-1 to take a 2-0 lead in their second-round, best-of-seven playoff series.

Marc-Andre Gaudet, Christophe Rondeau, Jacob Melanson, Milo Roelens and Cole Huckins also scored for the Phoenix, who outshot the visitors 44-15. The Phoenix went 3-for-4 on the power play, while the Voltigeurs were 0-for-3.

Manix Landry scored for the Voltigeurs, who lost Game 1 7-3 on Friday.

Game 3 is scheduled for Tuesday in Drummondville, Que.

HALIFAX, N.S. — Josh Lawrence was in no mood to fall behind two games as the Halifax Mooseheads' forward scored twice and added three assists to beat the visiting Moncton Wildcats 6-1.

The Mooseheads' victory tied the second-round, best-of-seven series 1-1. Moncton won Game 1 on Friday 4-1.

Zachary L'Heureux, Brady Schultz, Attilio Biasca, Markus Vidicek and Evan Boucher also scored for the Wildcats, who led 1-0 after the first period and 6-1 after 40 minutes. Jordan Dumais chipped in with two assists.

Trent Ballentyne scored for the Wildcats, who were outshot 37-14.

Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday in Moncton, N.B.
