Hockey fever is once again sweeping through Airdrie.

The U15 AAA Xtreme, reigning champions of the Alberta Elite Hockey League and the top U15 team in the zone, are preparing to embark on what promises to be an electrifying season. With their last regular season boasting an impressive 33-1 record, the Xtreme have set the bar high for themselves and are determined to defend their title.

In an exclusive interview with Xtreme's newly appointed head coach, Alec Miller, we gained insight into the team's preseason preparations and their aspirations for the upcoming season.

For Miller, this is a dream come true as he takes the reins as an Xtreme head coach for the first time in his career.

“We cut down to our main roster so now our pre-season starts and we get to work for our home opener,” said Miller.

What sets this year's Xtreme team apart is not just their exceptional talent but also their fellowship.

According to coach Miller, the players on this squad are already well-acquainted with each other, having either played together or faced off against one another in the past. According to Miller, this is often the secret ingredient to a successful season.

“They all either played together or competed against each other in the past,” he said. “They’ve all come in and bonded really quickly, the team has meshed well.”

With the final roster already finalized, Miller feels confident in the abilities of his players.

"I'm extremely confident in this team," he confirmed. "We have an exceptional group of young men who are also exceptional hockey players. I truly believe they have what it takes to achieve success this year and bring home the championship."

For the head coach, taking on this new role is a dream come true.

"It's an honour I've always aspired to achieve," said Miller. "When I was a player, I dreamt of being a part of the Xtreme family, and coaching has been a goal of mine for as long as I can remember. I'm super excited to be here."

Miller also acknowledged the invaluable mentorship he received from former head coach Tyson Soloski, who helped prepare him for this pivotal season. The continuity in the coaching staff is expected to be a key factor in the Xtreme's continued success.

"I have complete confidence in the staff I've assembled to support me in this role," Miller said. "I'm looking forward to contributing to the Xtreme's legacy and continuing the tradition of excellence."

As the U15 AAA Xtreme wraps up their pre-season and shifts their focus to the regular season, anticipation and excitement are noticeable. With coach Miller leading, and a team of talented and dedicated young athletes, the Xtreme are set to make this season yet another unforgettable chapter in their often-successful history and keep making Airdrie proud.
