Thunder have tough weekend

Jeff Gardiner made 28 saves and Travis Wallan scored the game-winner 4:57 into overtime against the Flyers. Sam Yetman scored twice and Cache Doolaege and Adbo Hamoud had singles.

Wallan and Mark Rollo scored against the Stampeders, while Logan Marlow had the loss in net.

The Cochrane Generals have taken over first place in the Heritage Junior Hockey League’s Central Division after posting two more wins last weekend – a 10-1 win over the Strathmore Wheatland Kings, Nov. 12, and a 6-4 win over the Wranglers in Blackfalds, Nov. 14.

Mike Matlo, who scored four times in the blowout win; Danny McSween; Kris Keller and Jonny Pictin, who all each had two, led the offence.

Kenny Quinn earned the win against Blackfalds, while Garrett Fraser beat Strathmore.
