The Airdrie Regional Recreation Enhancement Society (ARRES) has announced a new fundraising venture, called Raise The Rinks, in hopes of securing nearly $4 million to help construct a new set of twin ice surfaces in the proposed Phase 3 of Genesis Place.

The group is looking for sponsorship deals for the ice surfaces, dressing rooms, referee rooms, first aid room and the lobby to offset 25 per cent of the project’s total cost.

ARRES has set up a new website: www.arres.ca, with information about the new arenas, and the group itself, as well as an area to securely donate through PayPal.

Connor Boyd had a goal and an assist to lead the South Senators to a 5-3 win in the B Final of the Alberta Cup in Lethbridge on April 17. The Airdrie Xtreme Bantam AAA player had five points in five games, while teammate Tyler Wong had three goals and two assists and Colby Chartier had three points. Mackenzie Bauer had four points for the Central Thrashers.

Ty Rattie has 11 points in 10 playoff games thus far, as his Portland Winterhawks have advanced to the WHL Western Conference finals. They will play either the Spokane Chiefs in a best of seven series starting April 22.

Rattie also placed No. 17 in the NHL Central Scouting’s final draft rankings of the season last week.
